| Congratulations to Martha on her recent Elite Fall
Futurity win! The 6th Annual Elite Barrel Futurity kicked off on September 3rd
through the 6th at the Sommervell County Expo Center in Glen Rose, Texas. There were
a total of 280 horses from 17 states entered across four divisions. The competition was tough! Martha and Top Gun Honors,
aka 'Sassy', ran 3rd in the 1st go with a respectable time of 15.737.
"That was the first run I really asked for everything," Martha said of her
second go run. The Wrights whole-heartedly believe in letting their
horses tell them when they are ready to compete. "We want our horses to be good
and stay good," Martha said, "I tried to keep her mentally quiet and
focused."
The pair came back and blew the doors off the competition
running a scorching 15.091 - out-running their competitors by nearly a full
half-sceond! They won the 2nd go and had an average time of 30.828, winning the
barrel racing bronze statue donated by Acco Feed/Cargill and taking home a total paycheck
of $5,635.08!
Top Gun Honors is a mare by the great barrel racing
sire, Jet Of Honor, and is owned by Standifer Farms, Inc. of Colbert,
OK. Martha also brought another Jet of Honor mare, Smidgen Of Honor (Midge)
owned Ed and Martha, that placed 4th in the 2nd go for an additional $904.39.
We are very proud of all of the winners at this years
Elite Futurity. Keep a look out for the latest in a long line of champion Slash W
barrel horses - Top Gun Honors and Smidgen Of Honor!
